TRIMET Aluminium Joins Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced Monday the addition of German recycling firm TRIMET Aluminium SE to its ranks. With TRIMET’s addition as a Production & Tranformation member, the ASI’s total membership rises to 98.

Philipp Schlüter, TRIMET Aluminium SE’s CEO, said his firm is eager to join ASI due to its focus on sustainable aluminium production.

“TRIMET is pleased to join the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). As an independent family-owned company with a long-term outlook, we intend to contribute to the future development of ASI standards, because we are convinced that ASI sets the internationally recognized industrial benchmark for responsibly-sourced aluminium.”

TRIMET operates seven locations in Germany and France and produces modern lightweight aluminium metal products for a wide variety of industries. The 2,300-strong company is family owned and markets a broad spectrum of aluminium products, including molten aluminium, aluminium wire rod, rolling ingots, extrusion billets, and casting alloys, among many others.

The ASI is a worldwide organization dedicated to setting industrial standards and certifications in the aluminium industry. The association attempts to bring together the various stakeholders in the aluminium industry in order to achieve objectives including sustainable production methods, material chain-of-custody procedures, recycling, social impacts related to aluminium production, and production standards.
