Trade group Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced last week that Tri-Arrows Aluminium, Inc. has joined the association as a Production & Transformation member. Tri-Arrows’ membership brings the ASI’s total number of members to 184.
Tri-Arrows delivers rolled aluminium sheet to buyers throughout North America for use in aluminium beverage can production. The firm’s rolled aluminium is produced at Logan Aluminum, which is a joint venture between Tri-Arrows and Novelis. Tri-Arrows’ success in the rolled aluminium arena has led it to invest over US$400 million at Logan Aluminum in recent years, enhancing its recycling and finishing capabilities among others.
Henry Gordinier, President and CEO Tri-Arrows Aluminum, Inc., said its involvement in ASI demonstrates its commitment to sustainability.
“At Tri-Arrows Aluminum, we understand the greater responsibility we have to strengthen the environmental and societal well-being for future generations. The actions we take to reduce waste, to improve recycling, and to minimize emissions are core to the long-term value of our business. We need to make a measurable difference. The Aluminum Stewardship Initiative spotlights the advantage of aluminum as a sustainable raw material. We believe achieving ASI certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the stakeholders, employees, and communities we serve.”
Tri-Arrows is owned by a consortium consisting of Japan’s UACJ Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation.
The ASI is a worldwide organization dedicated to setting industrial standards and certifications in the aluminium industry. The association attempts to bring together the various stakeholders in the aluminium industry in order to achieve objectives including sustainable production methods, material chain-of-custody procedures, recycling, social impacts related to aluminium production, and production standards.
