Arlington, Virginia aluminium trade organization The Aluminum Association announced an expansion to its leadership team and new members to its Board of Directors at its annual meeting earlier this week.
“This is a pivotal time for the domestic aluminum industry – with tremendous demand side opportunities but also significant challenges on the global trade front,” opined the President and CEO of Scepter and Aluminum Association Chairman Garney Scott. “These new additions to the Association’s leadership will be tremendously helpful as we work together toward a sustainable future for the industry.”
Novelis North America’s Marco Palmieri joins the executive team as Second Vice Chairman after a unanimous vote of the Association. He is the new third member of the executive team, alongside Scott and Michelle O’Neill, the Vice President of Government Affairs and Trade Policy at Alcoa.
“I am very pleased to accept this leadership position with the Aluminum Association,” Palmieri said. “We have a great opportunity to collaborate even more across the US aluminum industry to advance positive change in areas including innovation, automotive and trade, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Palmieri joined Novelis in the fall of 2011 after serving as Aluminium Business Director for Votorantim Metais Ltda, and, prior to that, over a quarter century with Rio Tinto Alcan. He was appointed to his current position in the spring of 2013.
“Marco is a tremendous leader and one of the top voices in the aluminum business today,” said the President and CEO of the Aluminum Association Heidi Brock. “We are incredibly fortunate to have him serving in this key leadership role for the Association and I think he’ll bring unique ideas and perspective on the many issues we face as an industry.”
New members of the Aluminum Association’s Board of Directors are Mark Vrablec, President of Aerospace & Automotive Products at Alcoa; Tim Reyes, President of Alcoa Casting at Alcoa; Henry Gordinier, President of Tri-Arrows, and Dan Titus, President of Page Trucking.
