The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative grew by one last week with the addition of China’s Huanghe Xinye (Yellow River) Co., LTD. as a Production and Transformation member. Huanghe Xinye’s addition brings the ASI’s total membership to 213.
A subsidiary of Yellow River Upstream Hydropower Development Co., Huanghe Xinye is part of the State Power Investment Corporation’s (SPIC) efforts at promoting industrial collaboration and integration in the Qinghai area. The CNY7.493 billion project was begun in the fall of 2007 and entered into operation by 2010.
“Huanghe Xinye Co., LTD.is committed to building a green, low-carbon sustainable electrolytic aluminium production enterprise,” explained Wang Binglin, Chairman. “Adhering to the tenet of integrity, innovation and customer service, the company will follow the guidelines of ASI, give full attention to its modern corporate social responsibility, take the lead in fulfilling international green aluminium standards and actively improve and protect the ecological environment.”
Huanghe Xinye has a nameplate production capacity of 600 thousand metric tons of aluminium smelting capacity per annum. The company continues to seek out and implement new methods for producing electrolytic aluminium with a minimum of carbon production.
