The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced the addition of the Global Aluminium Foil Roller Initiative (GLAFRI) to their organization last Thursday.
GLAFRI provides its sixty members with information and data on the global aluminium foil market and coordinates sustainability initiatives among its members in an effort at promoting innovation and boost growth for the market of aluminium foil. Membership includes aluminium foil firms from over two dozen countries and accounts for roughly half of the world’s aluminium foil production.
“We are very glad to join ASI as one of the key objectives of the Global Foil Roller Initiative (GLAFRI) is to support responsible and sustainable aluminium foil market growth worldwide,” said GLAFRI president Oliver Hommel. “We are convinced that a close cooperation with ASI will encourage our members to enhance even further on responsible management and will contribute to position aluminium foil best in the sustainability debate.”
“ASI is a customer driven initiative along the whole aluminium supply chain,” added the director general of GLAFRI Stefan Glimm. “It aims to achieve similar values to those GLAFRI promotes and represents through our logo: capable, responsible, sustainable. So it is a logical consequence that GLAFRI joins and promotes ASI within the membership and beyond, towards foil rollers worldwide.”
The ASI is a worldwide organization dedicated to setting industrial standards and certifications in the aluminium industry. The association attempts to bring together the various stakeholders in the aluminium industry in order to achieve objectives including sustainable production methods, material chain-of-custody procedures, recycling, social impacts related to aluminium production, and production standards.
