Chinese aluminium recycler Chongqing Shunbo Aluminum Co Ltd announced this week a plan to construct a new CN¥5.6 billion (US$868.45 million) plant in east-central China.
Chongqing Shunbo said in a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange that the plant would be located in Maanshan in the province of Anhui and ultimately boast a nameplate capacity of 900 thousand metric tons per year. Production will consist of 400 thousand metric tons per annum of low-carbon aluminium, 300 thousand metric tons per annum of aluminium slab, and 200 thousand metric tons per annum of aluminium bar. Additionally, the plant will be able to process aluminium foil and aluminium plate, said the firm.
Construction on the project is expected to commence soon, with the first phase coming online in 2023. The second phase is slated to come online two years later.
Chongqing Shunbo specializes in secondary aluminium alloy ingots. Among its main offerings are aluminum-alloy die castings (ADC12), AC4B, and A380. Its primary buyers are in the automotive, motorcycle, mechanical equipment, and communication equipment sectors. The firm reported CN¥4,353.33 billion in revenue in 2019.
