
European cast and rolled aluminium supplier AMAG Austria Metall AG announced this week that it has been chosen to supply German automaker Audi AG with certified sustainable aluminium for use in its A6 Avant luxury performance wagon.
In a press release the firm said its inaugural run of Aluminium Stewardship Initiative-certified sustainable aluminium to Audi’s plant in Neckarsulm. In addition to the firm’s maiden sale of sustainable aluminium, the shipment will be AMAG’s first of outer-body sheet for the A6 Avant.
AMAG CEO Gerald Mayer says his firm is happy for the opportunity to continue its business connections with Audi.
“I am delighted for this opportunity to intensify our cooperation with Audi with AMAG aluminium produced according to proven sustainability standards. AMAG has been committed to the resource-efficient production of recycled aluminium for many years. This commitment has been enhanced by our recent certification in accordance with ASI standards.”
AMAG is a founding member of the ASI and produces high-quality aluminium cast for aircraft, automotive, sports equipment, lighting, mechanical engineering, construction, and packaging sectors. AMAG owns 20 percent of the Alouette smelter in Quebec, Canada and 70 percent of the German Aircraft Philipp Group (ACP), which produces ready-to-install metal components and assemblies for the aviation and aerospace industry.
