The UK Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) announced yesterday the debut of a new website to educate British consumers and global aluminium users of the significant advantages of recycling aluminium.
“Recycle Aluminium” will host a wide variety of content extolling the virtues of aluminium recycling. With over 12 billion consumables within aluminium containers are sold in the United Kingdom per year. Around 56 percent of it was recycled in 2019, but Alupro hopes to push that percentage to 100 by educating and inspiring the British public via the website.
Rick Hindley, executive director at Alupro, said in a press release that aluminium recycling rates are on the rise.
“Last year, more aluminium packaging was collected for reprocessing than ever before. At Alupro, we are striving to achieve our vision of a recycling rate close to 100%, with information and education playing a pivotal role. Our new website will not only provide valuable information to consumers, but also encourage households to make better and more informed decisions when it comes to disposing of their valuable aluminium packaging.”
“With a whole host of useful advice articles, blogs, videos and fact sheets, each explaining how, when and why we should recycle, we hope it will prove a valuable resource,” he concluded.
With over a quarter century of experience behind them, Alupro is an industry-supported not-for-profit organization established to represent the British aluminium packaging industry. The organization’s membership covers the entirety of the aluminium value chain.
