Aluminium Bahrain Opens New Sales Office In Singapore

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) strengthened its presence in Asia last week with the opening of a new sales office in Singapore.

Several of Alba’s top officers were on hand for the opening ceremony including Chairman of Alba’s Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali, Chief Marketing Officer Khalid A. Latif, Director Marketing MEA – Asia, Hisham Al Kooheji, and VAP Marketing Manager Shoji Takeuchi.

In a related press release Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa said that the firm’s strong presence in the area is a result of significant investments in its infrastructure.

“Our expansion into Singapore marks a new chapter in Alba’s growth strategy as we aim to further connect with our existing clients in the Asian market and forge partnerships with new ones. Thanks to +550,000 metric tonnes additional throughput streaming from our Line 6 Expansion Project, Alba today is well-poised to consolidate its position as a supplier of choice and meet the demands of its growing customer-base in the Asian-Pacific region.”

At present Alba has four sales offices. Approximately 21 percent of Alba’s sales are made on the continent.

Alba is one of the largest industrial companies in the Middle East and is the world’s biggest aluminium smelter outside the People’s Republic of China. Originally incorporated in 1968, the company is based in Bahrain and 84% of its total workforce are Bahraini nationals. It began operations in 1971 with a 120,000 metric ton annual capacity. Modernization bumped the output up to 450,000 metric tons in 1992. In the spring of 2005, Alba opened Line 5, raising output by 860,000 metric tons per year. In 2020 Alba’s smelter produced 1,548,500 metric tons of primary aluminium.
